2019 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CLIMATE CHANGE, DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

The Center for Water Cycle, Marine Environment and Disaster Management (CWMD) is going to organize 2019 International Conference on Climate Change, Disaster Management and Environmental Sustainability. The Conference will be held at the Kumamoto University in Kumamoto, Japan on September 19- 21, 2019. By bringing academia, researchers, policy makers and practitioners among multiple disciplines and stakeholders, the Conference aims to address crucial issues, challenges and discussions of climate change, disaster management and environmental sustainability towards achieving local, regional and global sustainable development. This conference provides an excellent opportunity for all the presenters and participants to meet, discuss and share a broad range of emerging aspects of science, technology, economics, social, environmental, policy and governance in relation to climate change, disaster management and environmental sustainability.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

  • Provide a platform to discuss issues, challenges and solutions to address climate change, disaster management and environmental sustainability.
  • Create an avenue for presenting the research works and sharing knowledge on current trends, risks and impacts of climate change, disasters and other environmental problems.
  • Engage multi-stakeholders including researchers, policy makers, practitioners, private sector and community representatives towards a livable, resilient and sustainable community, region and globe.
  • Offer a platform for invaluable networking opportunity among all the delegates and participants.

CALL FOR PAPER

The world is experiencing an increasing level of risk and impact of climatic change and disasters. It is crucial to understand the relationship between climate change, extreme weather events and disasters, the impacts of such events, and the strategies to reduce climate and disaster risks as well as the potential for integrating climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction. Therefore, the Center for Water Cycle, Marine Environment and Disaster Management (CWMD) initiates to organize this conference which aspires to address such issues for better understanding and solutions that can benefit the people and society across the world. The Conference welcomes any papers including but not limited to the following themes:

  • Climate Change – sciences, cause & effect, impacts, vulnerability, mitigation and adaptation
  • Natural and human made hazard & disasters; risk & vulnerability assessment
  • Extreme weather, climate and hydrological events; rapid and slow onset events
  • Disaster prevention and mitigation; mitigating hazards, droughts and floods
  • Disaster risk reduction; early warning; emergency responses
  • Linking climate change, disaster management & sustainable development
  • Land use planning; urban and regional design; infrastructure & reconstruction
  • Land use & transport interaction; transportation management; sustainable transportation
  • Transportation policy; travel demand modelling; travel behavior analysis; evacuation behavior
  • Environmental problems including marine ecosystems; environmental sustainability; low carbon economy
  • Environmental assessment by bio-monitoring; sustainable use of marine bio-resource
  • Innovation and sustainable utilization of seaweeds in aquaculture
  • Chemistry and microbiology related to environmental issues
  • Water resource management; reservation of ecosystem
  • Water pollution, water treatment & strategy for mitigation
  • Disasters/extreme environmental changes on coastal ecosystems (tidal flats, salt marsh, & mangrove forests)

Authors are requested to write the papers in English. Accepted papers will be reviewed and published in ISBN proceedings.

All the authors are invited to submit abstract and full paper in .docx format.

Poster presentations are encouraged to masters and undergraduate students ONLY.

Abstract - Not more than 400 words.

Full paper - 4 to 10 pages.
